Cookbooks Faves of 2014: Baking

The  most robust cookbook category this year is Baking.  Here are some of my favorites.  I should say that in my opinion each of these books will become classics that last.

Huckleberry by Zoe Nathan and Laurel
If you live in LA you’ve eaten there. What more is there to say? Zoe’s baking style is the embodiment of bold rustic American-European goodness. These are the baked goods you want to be able to whip up for friends who are coming over in a couple of hours.

Josey Baker Bread by Josey Baker
A great book for the beginning bread baker who wants to start the voyage to naturally leavened bread. Written by an irreverent dude who fell in love with a lump of dough and allowed it to change his life.  Maybe he’ll help change yours.

Baking Chez Moi by Dorie Greenspan
This particular collection from the gifted Dorie is super appealing in it’s hominess. It’s worth it for Laurent’s Roasted Pineapple and the cookies alone.

The Baking Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum
Rose is famous for her meticulous dedication to detail. This might be her bible of all bibles.

Flavor Flours by Alice Medrich
Gluten free baking that focuses on teaching us the flavor and texture particulars that each non-wheat flour has to offer.  From a super pro teacher.
